Merlin Lab
Department of Biology
Texas A&M University
Animals live in a highly dynamic environment and have adapted their physiology and behavior accordingly. Our lab studies the molecular and neurogenetic mechanisms underlying circadian and seasonal rhythms, animal migration and magnetoreception. We use the iconic migratory monarch butterfly as a powerful model system that combines the rich biology of a migratory species with unique genetic tractability among them, and integrate a wide range of approaches
at the molecular, biochemical, genetic, genomic and behavioral levels.
